45 touring car. The earlier engine was quite primitive in comparison to the
224 CID engine. The big 331 CID engine was introduced in 1914 and was
discontinued in mid 1916, the trend towards lighter and smaller cars, as the
one you have. The 331 CID engine was basically the old 4 cylinder engine with
another 2
cylinders tacked on, they were huge as were the cars built on the 130 inch
wheelbase ( models 54 and 55). The 224 CID type engine powered Buick Vehicles in
one form or another from mid 1916 until 1923.
